Cook Position At Heatherwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center
We are hiring full-time cooks to join our dynamic care team at Heatherwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Newport! Forty hours a week. Shift varies. Weekly pay! As a cook, the primary purpose of your position is to prepare food to assure that quality food service is provided at all times under the direction of our director of dining services. One year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility preferred, but not necessary. We can train the right candidate! Duties and responsibilities include: following therapeutic diets ordered by the physician, ensuring the proper serving temperature of food, maintaining visual appeal of the food, monitoring daily nourishments, following standardized recipes, assuring proper portion control, adhering to sanitation and storage policy and procedure, and other duties assigned by the manager. Specific requirements include: the ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities, the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language, the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action, the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public, knowledge of dining service procedures as well as related laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing home operations, leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel, maintaining the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and performing regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties, patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as being willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
