Job Title: Unit Manager - Registered Nurse (RN)Location: Optalis Healthcare at Kent Crossing 2323 East Beltline SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 Full-Time | Leadership Role | Competitive Pay & BenefitsJob SummaryThe Unit Manager - RN plays a vital leadership role in overseeing nursing care delivery for an assigned unit or clinical area within our skilled nursing facility. This position is responsible for coordinating high-quality, person-centered care through leadership of clinical staff, direct resident engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Unit Manager ensures compliance with regulatory standards and adherence to the Optalis clinical systems-all while promoting resident dignity, safety, and satisfaction.This role requires the ability to lead by example, mentor staff, and be a visible, accessible presence on the floor, supporting both clinical excellence and a positive team culture.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight & Resident Care Perform and oversee comprehensive nursing assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care within assigned unit. Ensure adherence to nursing protocols, infection control measures, safety practices, and regulatory guidelines. Promote a person-centered approach by collaborating with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams to individualize care plans. Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) processes as required.Staff Leadership & Supervision Supervise, support, and mentor licensed nurses (LPNs, RNs) and CNAs assigned to the unit. Coordinate staffing, delegate responsibilities, and ensure appropriate coverage for quality care delivery. Interview, hire, train, and onboard new clinical staff in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. Monitor staff performance, provide feedback and coaching, and conduct timely performance evaluations. Enforce disciplinary procedures in alignment with company policies and labor regulations.Regulatory Compliance & Resource Management Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local nursing regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures. Serve as a key contact during state surveys or audits for unit-related inquiries. Maintain effective communication and coordination between nursing services, physicians, therapists, social services, and families. Identify clinical trends or concerns and initiate corrective actions to improve resident outcomes.Minimum QualificationsEducation: Current, unencumbered RN license in the state of Michigan is required. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. At least one (1) year of nursing supervisory or charge nurse experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.Key Competencies Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
