Residential Garage Door Service TechnicianApprentice

We are looking for a motivated garage door service technician to join our growing staff. As a technician, your main duties will be installing garage doors in residences and commercial buildings as well as training new technicians. Since our business specializes in remodels, new installations, and repairs, technicians will visit various project sites, and no two days will be the same. You'll be interacting with customers on a daily basis across all of our service areas, so you must possess excellent customer service skills. A person with experience using power tools and a fundamental knowledge of how electrical systems are wired and connected would be an ideal candidate for this position. Responsibilities: • Provide a complete evaluation and precise diagnosis of any issues with the current system, after which present the customer with their options • Utilize software to take notes, make quotes, and create invoices for customers • Participate in company meetings and adhere to company procedures • Check the location and measure openings for installation when working on larger jobs • Be on time for all appointments, and put forth your best effort to satisfy customers • Respond and diagnose a wide range of garage door problems and be able to provide solutions for customers. • Conduct routine maintenance checks to identify issues and prevent future breakdowns. • Replace door springs, optimize garage door performance, install and fix broken hardware, program remotes, install new openers, and have the ability to fix or adjust any other component of a garage door or opener. • Perform installations and repairs of overhead doors and related equipment in a timely and efficient manner. • Be able to fabricate parts working with metal, steel, brick, and wood. • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns. • Maintain accurate records of service visits, parts used, and work performed for documentation and billing purposes. Qualifications: • Must be able to use a measuring tape along with math and problem-solving skills • Good understanding with the wiring and connections used in electrical systems • Effective communication, listening, and teamwork skills are necessary • This position requires a high school diploma or GED • Outstanding customer service abilities are required for this position • Mechanically Inclined. • Ability to problem solve and overcome difficult problems. • Provide clear and excellent communication to customers. • Reliable and self-motivated. • Team Player. • GED, High School Diploma, Or Equivalent. • Driver's License. • Good Standing Driving Record. • Ability to walk and stand for long periods. • Skilled with Hand tools and power tools. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. • Follow all safety protocols. • Must be able to commute to 6736 Lovers Lane, Portage, MI, and service anywhere within the Greater Kalamazoo area and beyond. Preferred: • Technical School Experience. • Trade Skill Experience. Compensation: $21 - $26 hourly + Commission + Sign-On Bonus
