Position Summary

:

Provide engineering design for AMF Bakery System's products. This includes current standard machines/systems, custom products, legacy products, and sales support. This position is responsible for hardware and software design for machine and/or control systems for assigned AMF projects. Working in conjunction with the Controls Specialist to issue, maintain, and update project-related documentation. Responsibilities include assisting assembly during system build, machine/system check out, field service assistance, and installation as required.

Responsibilities

:

Work with Project Engineer and purchasing on delivery issues to come up with substitutes for Electrical Machine Design which includes all power, control systems, and electrical diagrams required to meet customer specifications for the project

Participate in new equipment design to advise on component sizing and location

Get new parts added into the CAD system

Discuss with Controls Engineers system designs to meet applicable codes and standards

Review new parts and make recommendations for use as a standard part

Develop custom enclosure drawings

Develop enclosure modifications

Electrical Drawings

Bills Of Materials (BOMS)

Engineering Support

Spare Parts Support

Sales Support

Shop Support

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

:

Working knowledge of industrial electricity and control systems

600 VAC and less, 3Ø control systems

Motors, servos, low-voltage DC devices, and sensors

Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills

Competency with Allen Bradley PLC hardware

Knowledge of industrial communications (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNET, Profibus, etc.)

Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface hardware

Ability to understand and design electrical control schematic diagrams

Ability to specify, and assist with installation, debug, and start-up of electrical control and power system equipment

Be able to understand how a machine functions mechanically

Be able to apply electrical components to a control system to make the machine run as designed

Understand and have the capability to apply electrical codes and regulations such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL 508a as well as agency approvals to control systems manufactured at AMF

Understand, design, and practice machine safety

Problem-Solving techniques

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project

A "self-starter" requiring minimal direct supervision but a team player

Have good communication skills

Ability to work well with others and project a good image for AMF

Ability to work with minimal supervision

:

Project management skills

Competency with Allen Bradley PLC software

Competency with Allen Bradley Operator Interface software (primarily Panel View Plus series)

PLC programming skills necessary to make a machine function properly and safely

Operator interface programming skills are necessary to run the machine easily and without confusion

Supervision Received

:

This position reports directly to the Manager. This position works with minimal supervision.

Supervision Given

:

This position does not directly supervise others. However, it does provide guidance and engineering direction to Engineers, Controls Specialists, Assembly, Field Service, and Sales.

Minimum Education Level

:

This position requires a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field. A combination of an AA

degree

and a minimum of 5 years of relevant

experience will be considered in lieu

of a Bachelor's

degree .

Experience:

It is to have 5+ years of controls/electrical engineering experience with the design of automated machinery in the Baking Industry for this position.
