The Role
Our Senior Account Managers are caretakers of our client relationships and critical to maximizing client satisfaction. From building plans to balancing the expectations of clients, they are adept at translating strategy to execution. With a strong understanding of SJR's best practices and their client's business, they know what it takes to deliver programs that address specific business challenges and identify opportunities for incremental growth.
The Senior Account Manager role is critical to delivering solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. They know how to interact with clients and in house teams as both an effective project manager and strategic partner who helps clarify and develop objectives, identify challenges, and guides the creation of strategies and metrics for success. They are responsible for ensuring success across all functional teams and overall client delivery.
They are ultra-responsive, comfortable making decisions and have a get-it-done mentality. Many of the responsibilities are consistent with the Account Manager role and must be upheld, however, this position develops initial strategic input, sets expectations for deliverables, and manages the financials of the account.
As the hub of our client services engine, the Senior Account Manager is an experienced doer who rolls up their sleeves to ensures operational excellence and sets the tone for the overall experience of working with SJR.
Responsibilities
Account Management + Strategy
Manages day-to-day relationship and communication with clients and account operations, including but not limited to: Acts as point of contact for client on matters ranging from approach to timing, deliverables, issues, financials, and new opportunities with support from client lead Directs in-house teams in execution of deliverables relative to clients' business goals and objectives Develop initial strategic input and planning Keeps internal teams and client appraised of risks, dependencies, and new developments as necessary Demonstrates an understanding of the client's business, industry, audience, and competitive environment - applying them to the strategic direction for projects Works closely with client lead and finance to manage project financials in accordance with agency policy and procedure Ensures finance invoices and collects payment Drafts MSAs and ensures compliance with SOWs Maintains revenue forecasts Manages budget and reconciliation Tracks billing and expenses of the accounts Displays understanding of business KPIs, client goals and measurement tools needed to help determine effectiveness of strategies and activations Demonstrates problem solving skills when dealing with client requests and issues; escalates as necessary and creates transparency around health of the relationship Shapes polished presentations and presents to clients - on concepts, a content strategy and a budget. Strengthens and fosters successful relationships with clients and partners across the agency Creative + Editorial
Organizes and runs creative ideation and brainstorming sessions, including: Helps develop concepts that address client briefs Writes up creative ideas for client presentations, ensures they are positioned effectively and are clear, feasible and budgeted Translates client-approved ideas into briefs for editorial and creative teams that are clear and concise and keep the business objective top of mind Provides the internal teams with strategic inputs content and creative to enable the quick and accurate development of content concepts; ensures insights are reflected in final products Facilitates creative dialogue and represents our creative and editorial efforts and methodologies to clients Consistently ensures all deliverables are client-ready by paying astute attention to detail and incorporating any relevant insights from the client, business and industry Supports in-house teams, closely monitoring the work of creative, production and analytics to deliver on time and on brief Pre-production support: from research to briefs, administration, client communications and expectation setting, vendor management, etc. On-location support: works closely with creative teams to ensure on-location production is run efficiently and to client expectations Growth + Business Development
Partners with client lead to craft growth strategies, concepts, RFP responses and business development blueprints Identifies opportunities within existing client relationships to unlock organic growth and maximize profitability of current SOWs Is an active part of the business development function, helping to identify potential new clients and develop strategies to convert them Establishes and maintains relationships with colleagues at partner agencies to help SJR become front of mind for new opportunities Participates in pitch development and presentations as required Key Skills and Qualifications
Minimum four years of account management experience (agency setting preferred) Able to think and operate with strategic orientation in addition to managing account and operations Demonstrate responsiveness and is proactive about in-person meetings, financials of the account, presentations and organic growth. Sharp eye for detail with strong organization skills- comfortable managing multiple streams of work and client feedback A strong communicator and effective presenter with skills necessary to develop presentations Commitment to continuous improvement with a demonstrated drive to respond to feedback through an iterative review process An inquisitive mind, always looking to expand your understanding of the current business environment Track record of proven analytics, problem-solving and decision-making skills Experience using collaborative team communication and project management applications (e.g., Trello and MS Teams) Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications
