The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.
Sr Market Analyst Pay Range - $ 95,200 - $ 123,700
Market Analyst II Pay Range: $ 76,000 - $ 96,900
Market Analyst I Pay Range: $ 62,500 - $ 76,550

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Market Analyst
to join our dynamic Markets team. This critical role supports the development and implementation of efficient market processes, policies, and initiatives across SPP’s wholesale energy markets, including the Integrated Marketplace, WEIS, and Markets+. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure SPP’s market design remains robust, transparent, and compliant with FERC jurisdictional requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the development and implementation of wholesale market policies and processes.
Analyze and track market initiatives from concept through implementation.
Ensure compliance with FERC regulations and SPP stakeholder processes.
Facilitate stakeholder discussions and present policy recommendations.
Collaborate across departments to align systems and processes with approved market designs.
Support regulatory filings, protocol updates, and special market projects.
Conduct market research and benchmarking with other RTOs/ISOs.
Provide technical expertise, training, and guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful as the Market Analyst, we're looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or other related degree. For a Senior Analyst five (5) years of job-related experience may be considered in lieu of education.
Sr. Market Analyst - Five (5) years of experience
Market Analyst II - Two (2) years of job-related work experience
Market Analyst I - No experience required
Ability to recognize and address strategic issues important to Markets
Proficient at organizing and conducting complex technical and analytical studies
Skilled at analyzing complex issues and communicating results to diverse stakeholders
Proficient at organizing and conducting technical and analytical studies
Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and ability to understand strategic challenges and position solutions to address these
Knowledge of electric market concepts and ability to apply understanding in unique analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Access
Demonstrate proficiency in business acumen and professional conduct
Demonstrate the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
Demonstrate strong organizational skills
Strong facilitation skills
Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals with diverse interests when resolving problems
Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships at all organizational levels with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to work closely with leadership in a dynamic, and fast-paced environment requiring the individual to manage simultaneously several tasks, while paying attention to detail and quality
Preferred:
Experience in Open Access Transmission Tariff, Integrated Marketplace Protocols, and working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, FERC regulatory orders of regional significance to SPP Markets
Experience in utility operations, RTO operations or energy trading
Experience with data manipulation and analysis of large data sets
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
This position requires moderate travel (approximately 20%).
