Old Dominion Heat Trace is looking for a sales focused estimator to join their Leesburg, VA office.
Please note: These are onsite positions. No relocation assistance or remote work is available.
Job Summary: The Sales Estimator is responsible for accurately estimating all costs associated with construction projects to ensure timely completion within budget. They control project expenses by collecting and analyzing data on time, materials, equipment, labor, and overall costs. In addition to cost management, the Sales Estimator actively builds and nurtures relationships with both existing and prospective clients, driving new business opportunities and contributing to company growth.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage bid pricing from all vendors
Review documentation (e.g., plans, specifications), communicate with the vendor and contractor, and visit job sites and other venues as needed to ensure understanding of the scope of work and project requirements
Research the cost of items (e.g., materials, equipment, labor) on an ongoing basis to ensure accurate estimates
Complete take-offs utilizing take-off software to gather information needed for bids
Generate accurate, detailed, and timely estimates
Prepare and submit bid packages within specified timeframe
Conduct ongoing cost analysis to verify profitability and adjust estimating procedures when necessary
Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and trade partners
Manage all potential change orders
Communicates with trade partners and team members throughout all stages of the project to ensure the project stays within budget
Oversee the preparation and maintenance of project logs and directories of suppliers, contractors and other trade partners
Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and trade partners
Continually seek and identify opportunities to grow and position the business for success
Identify and research potential clients and customer needs in relevant construction markets.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients by establishing rapport and arranging meetings, outings, and events.
Identify all upcoming construction projects in relevant markets
Identify, develop, and recommend strategies and tactics to expand new business opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least three to four years of experience in construction heat trace estimating
Bachelors degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field
Ability to read, understand, and navigate architectural plans and specifications
Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively
Considerable knowledge of construction processes
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Excellent math and analytical skills
Detail-orientated and decisive
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
Impeccable problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and other trade partners
Qualifications:
Prior experience using take-off software
Physical Requirements include but are not limited to the following:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat and climb
Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed
Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video
Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
Able to lift & carry items up to 15 lbs
