Applicants for HVAC Mechanic must be able to install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in the schools. As well as work with various types of HVAC equipment, including boilers, VRFs, rooftop units and control systems. They will also be required to assist other trades, ensure safety, and may be required to work evening and weekends. Must have at least three years of experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Repair:
Install, replace, and repair HVAC equipment and components. Preventative Maintenance:
Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. Troubleshooting and Diagnosis:
Diagnose and trouble shoot HVAC system malfunctions. Equipment Operation:
Operate and maintain various HVAC equipment, including central heating. Safety:
Ensure safe working practices and comply with safety regulations. Communication:
Communicate with school personnel, contractors, and vendors. Assistance:
Assist other trades as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance. Troubleshooting:
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions. Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical drawings. Communication:
Good communication and interpersonal skills. Physical Demands:
ability to lift, push, and pull heavy equipment and tools. Safety Awareness:
Understanding of safety practices and regulations. Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills for using software and systems.
This 12-month position offers a competitive starting salary along with a complete medical benefits package, including dental, based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Local 32, Office & Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO (OPEIU). Opportunity to work overtime is available. Holidays and vacation time off are also included.
