The Human Resources Generalist administers HR programs, procedures, and plans used in carrying out Human Resources policies. Provides guidance to executives, managers, supervisors, and employees on various Human Resources issues. Areas of expertise may include one or more of the following HR modalities: Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Organizational Development, Recruitment, Onboarding, and Leave Administration.

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hourly rate:

$35.67-51.97/hr. depending on experience

Requirements

Minimum Education and Work Experience -

Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field and three years of HR experience OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the candidate with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.

Preferred Work Experience -

Experience in a union environment preferred.

Licenses/Certifications -

SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Ability to write and speak clearly and concisely to express ideas and recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing. Proficient knowledge of state and federal benefits programs, including workers' compensation, unemployment, and state and federal leave programs. General skills in Microsoft Office suite and ability to develop proficiency in enterprise software. Ability to exercise a high degree of judgment and discretion and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Ability to identify organize and prioritize several ongoing and frequently changing assignments to meet deadlines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Description

$35.67-51.97/hr.
