Join Upbound as a Senior Solutions Architect and play a key role in our go-to-market initiative, focusing on post-sales implementation and customer success. Your extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud-native solutions based on Kubernetes will significantly drive our product adoption and implementation efforts.
In this dynamic position, you will:
Collaborate closely with the Upbound pre-sales team to ensure a seamless transition for customers during post-sales implementation.
Gain a deep understanding of customer environments and needs, designing exciting and effective architecture and solutions.
Drive successful adoption of Upbound and Crossplane technology within customer production settings.
Conduct technical discovery sessions to define customer engagements and help draft Statements of Work.
Engage directly with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges associated with deploying Crossplane and Upbound Cloud control plane architectures.
Enhance customer deployments by writing code, troubleshooting bugs, and developing scoped features within Upbound products and the Crossplane core code base.
Create and uphold a collection of cloud-native 'reference platforms' to accelerate product adoption and position Crossplane and Upbound at the forefront of the cloud-native ecosystem.
Work across departments to resolve intricate scenarios and integration hurdles.
Act as the technical representative of Upbound for customers while advocating for their needs internally to influence the product roadmap.
Serve as a trusted technical advisor for customers by continuously identifying and presenting innovative technical solutions as our product suite evolves.
You are an ideal candidate if you possess:
Experience writing and maintaining code interfacing with Kubernetes API (operators, controllers, add-ons, etc.).
Experience managing production Kubernetes deployments or executing workloads on Kubernetes in production settings.
A background in platform engineering or SRE, particularly in building Internal Developer Portals (IDPs).
A thorough understanding of scalable and reliable services across multiple major cloud providers.
Excellent communication skills to effectively engage and lead discussions with technical and business teams, as well as present to customers and stakeholders at various management levels.
A track record of working directly with clients or open-source communities to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, leading to successful adoption.
Experience deploying and integrating projects within the Cloud Native Landscape, especially CNCF projects, into production.
Familiarity with modern operational and application delivery practices, including tools from HashiCorp (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and GitOps.
Programming expertise in a modern language, ideally Go.
The ability to collaborate with individuals across a variety of disciplines and backgrounds.
The capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
A passion for shaping, scaling, and enhancing our engineering and customer solutions strategies.
It is a plus if you have:
Experience with Crossplane.
Contributions to the upstream Kubernetes community.
A history of speaking at tech conferences, writing technical articles, or contributing to popular open-source projects.
Previous experience working in a startup and remote team environments, with an understanding of their unique challenges.
Current CKA or CKAD certification.
