SCOPE:

The Human Resources Generalist performs professional level Human Resources tasks and projects under the direction of the Human Resources Director. This position will work with all areas of Human Resources lifecycle, including but not limited to employee relations, labor relations, compliance, recruiting, benefits, compensation, as well as advising in all areas of employment. The Generalist will proactively identify human resources solutions that will improve Company culture, engagement and processes and that contribute to the success of the Organization.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist in the development of Human Resources programs and solutions by supporting the initiative, collecting and analyzing data/information and being hands on in the implementation and maintenance of the program/solution. Reviews current HR processes as needed and recommends appropriate course of action as needed and supports all Human Resources processes. Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Proactively looks to enhance Company performance by evaluating and identifying problems and implementing resolutions. Viewed as an HR subject matter expert for the Company and will coach and counsel management and employees on Human Resources related matters. Prepare comprehensive and professional HR reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends. Assist in development and implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures; maintain the employee handbook and policies/procedures manual. Participates in the development, implementation and activities of employee engagement and diversity programs as well as department goals, objectives and systems for both the department and the Company. Assist with reviewing and administering the Company's compensation program; as well as the performance management process. Participate and assist with new employee orientations and assist with any other training/development programs. Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing. Participate in business-wide and HR team initiatives and committee facilitation. Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of the Human Resource department in relation to established goals. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the efficiency of the department and the services performed. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Performs tasks related to the Human Resources Information Systems to ensure accurate data, records and reporting. Participates in the payroll process to ensure an accurate payroll is completed. Attends and participates in all required meetings, to include but not limited to investigations, employee disciplinary meetings, and/or termination meetings. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations by demonstrating thorough knowledge and comprehension of new and existing legislation, anticipating legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions to remain current. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate next step as needed. Ensures confidentiality is maintained with all aspects of HR including employee information, Company data, and Company information. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Perform other duties as assigned. Regular use of hands to manipulate office equipment, phones and computer keyboard/ mouse. Sitting for extended periods of time, walking, reaching, bending and lifting up to 15 pounds. Extensive visual computer use and document review. Requires the ability to hear normal audible sounds including conversations over the phone and in person. Organizational, problem solving and analytical skills, ability to multi-task, comprehend complex information and analyze data, ability to effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office environment, generally free of temperature extremes or hazards. Employee frequently interacts directly with employees (both onsite and remote), third party vendors and clients during the workday. In addition, will be required to routinely be in the Bakery, working around power equipment, slippery floors and dusty areas. Very hot conditions during summer seasons. Protective clothing such as uniform, gloves and slip resistant, safety toe shoes are required.

Qualifications

Knowledge / Skills

Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration and excellent interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of employment law, benefits, compensation, training and policy interpretation. Strong leadership skills including strong communication and listening skills, team building, multitasking, and coaching skills. Proven interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet and/or exceed deadlines. Excellent relationship-building and conflict resolution skills; Customer service orientation. Ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple projects as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. A self-starter who is able to work independently and/or with a team with minimal direction. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Maintains composure at all times, especially while under pressure and handling difficult and complex situations. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems. EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration, or related field. A certified professional of human resources is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in human resources.
