Nurse Manager Position At University Behavioral Center
University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents, and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required. Position Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice, and hospital policy, goals, and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital's philosophy, objectives, educational, and quality improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the nursing staff assigned to his/her unit. Essential Job Functions
Ensures adequate staffing on the unit to meet patient demand and adjusts accordingly as needed. Communicates effectively with physicians and resolves unit issues in a timely and efficient manner. Manages unit FTEs and overtime with regard to budget; understands financial impact to facility goals. Exemplary communication skills. Understands, follows, and supports risk management and infection control policies and procedures. Intervenes appropriately in crisis situations. Conducts ad hoc treatment team as needed. Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida Current CPR or BLS certification. Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+. Work hours: 12-hour shifts; day or night shift available; rotating weekends Skills: Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation is preferred. Experience with behavioral health patient is preferred. Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial. Familiarity with older adult care practices is advantageous. Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting is highly desirable. Competence in taking vital signs accurately. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
