How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Electromechanical Engineer for Vehicle Assembly, you will be responsible for general operations and production support specific to the development of electromechanical system configuration drawings, engineering change requests, manufacturing safety, quality and process control, and best safety practices while meeting supply and demand based on Master Production Schedule. This position is very hands-on and will require knowledge of electrical and mechanical system integration, and communication with different departments including Sales, Procurement, Configuration, and Operations.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Create and update system & truck drawings / wiring schematics through computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting skillset - typically derived from customer specifications:
Work with Sales to generate truck layouts and secure timely approval of same
Communicate with customers on as needed basis to ensure expectations being met
Create Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and associated redline drawings as required - track through implementation
Provide detailed information to the Engineering Change Board for all ECR's
Generate, monitor and follow to resolution Floor Problems generated at Vehicle Assembly, ensuring SQDC impacts are being made
Provide day-to-day guidance & support for the Vehicle Assembly, Cabinet Shop, and Reel Shop floor while ensuring best safety practices and meeting SQDC:
Monitor truck builds on production line and address issues
Ensure Cabinet Shop demand is met in timely manner
Collaborate with programmers on developing CNC files for production
Coordinate and participate in Continuous Improvement projects - waste elimination / Lean / 5S
Complete special projects as required
Manage VA Safety program requirements - monthly meetings, inspections, observations and incident reporting
Follow safety standards, keep a neat and orderly workstation and ensure that a safe work environment is maintained
Work with multiple teams to ensure Production is being met using and working in our ERP system (IFS):
Collaborate with multiple department teams to ensure best practices are being followed for safety and productivity
Validate Product Structures (BOM's) for truck production releases
Generate Purchase Requisitions and Part Number Requests as needed
Provide leadership to others through example, sharing knowledge and skills
Self-motivated, strong organizational skills & detail-oriented mindset - self-starter with strong willingness to learn
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

Required Experience & Education
Minimum of AA degree required in relevant field
Plus, a minimum of 5 years' experience in Engineering Design
Proficiency with AutoCAD / Solidworks or similar CAD software
Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word / Excel / Power Point / Access database creation & maintenance
Proficiency with ERP management software (Experience with IFS a plus)
Proficiency with CPQ systems (Experience with SalesForce a plus)
Leadership & organizational skills - Attitude / Attendance / Aptitude
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
BS Degree in Electromechanical Engineering or similar background
Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
Vehicle and chassis knowledge
Lean Manufacturing training / experience
CNC programming experience - CAD to CNC conversion
Mechanical & Electrical (12V & 110V systems) - aptitude / troubleshooting
Travel & Working Environment
6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Thursday (4/10 shifts)
Must be flexible to work overtime as required
Manufacturing and Office work environments
Requires performing work at a desk and computer, standing and walking throughout manufacturing and office areas for extended periods.
Occasionally lifting objects up to 40 lbs. without assistance
