Come join our team!Assistant Sales Managers oversee and manage the performance of the outside sales team within the designated region. This position is also responsible for leading and ensuring profitability of the sales team. Responsibilities of Position:Manage outside sales team to actively identify and pursue new commercial clients through cold-calling, field visits, networking and responding to inbound inquiriesManage Account Reps to develop business relationships with the existing customer base, maximize the retention of revenue, and cultivate the strength of contractual relationsMonitor and coach reps on day-to-day selling (ie. ride-alongs, site visits, etc.) and account development activities in order to drive productivity and ensure all sales/activity goals are met or exceededDesign and implement improvement strategies for under-performing sales representativesEstablish and maintain cross-functional communication to provide quality internal and external customer serviceAssist with annual budget preparationCoach and train staff to determine customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state, and federal regulationsEnsure staff utilizes the company's CMS on a daily basis, scheduling and documenting activities, and developing prospective customer profilesManage staff to ensure required Customer Service Agreements, reports, and other paperwork is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with Company policyDevelop and maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends to ensure staff responds accordinglyOther duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility:This position will manage 6-10 employeesSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:Must present and communicate effectively and in a professional manner Must be organized with good time management skillsMust have a working knowledge of procurement processesAbility to learn various waste streams and their appropriate applications for clientsAbility to complete accurate and competitive service proposals Must be proficient in Windows and Microsoft applicationsMust possess proven analytical/problem solving solutions for the customer and the companyMust possess strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skillsMust be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goalsExperience & Knowledge Needed for Position:Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field preferredExperience in developing and executing territory sales strategies is required; waste industry experience preferredMinimum of 5 years experience in a sales role; outside sales is preferred Minimum 1-year experience in sales supervision preferredPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:Occasionally lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbsRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbsFrequently working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditionsFrequently working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingOccasionally climbing and/or balancingFrequently sitting/standing/walking Additional Working Conditions/Aspects: No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 yearsMust not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 yearsPossible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to travel between offices, as requiredAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as neededAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidaysMust be available for 24-hour emergency callsLegally eligible to work in the United StatesValid driver's license (if applicable)Must successfully complete pre-employment testingMust be able to read and speak the English languageThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
