An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST HAVE A WORK-STUDY AWARD
Help research and acquire fundingopportunities for the first issue of Horizon Review, a new local finearts magazine under the umbrella of the nonprofit organization, FUSION-a localprofessional theatre and cultural & arts hub. In this position, you willhelp research and apply for funding for the magazine. The position isdesigned as a mentorship, so extensive experience is not required, and trainingwill be provided. A grant and proposal writerwill research and compile options for funding, write proposals andapplications, and perform outreach to organizations.
Horizon Review's mission is to encapsulate local stories,elevate quality art, and educate the rising generation of creativeprofessionals. We are committed to providing opportunities for talent to thrivein our community. We will publish a print magazine annually, enriched by thetalent of local artists and the professional assistance of UNM students andbeginning professionals. We are dedicated to the pursuit of community buildingand recognition for local artists and professionals. Responsibilities: Research funding possibilities and compile them into a formatted list Create grant proposals and applications using a template and boilerplate language Update the proposal templates and boilerplate language as needed Apply for funding in a timely manner Perform outreach to organizations for possible funding opportunities Build relationships with funding agencies Assist with additional magazine or marketing responsibilities as needed
This is a work study eligible position only, and potential candidates must apply to UNM Jobs.
Minimum Qualifications
Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Independent time management skills Strong copywriting and proof-reading skills Willingness to work individually and as part of a group Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively Interest in learning about the roles and tasks related to grant and proposal writing Tech savvy Preferred qualifications: Previous experience with grant and proposal writing (work or classes) Previous experience with grant application processes Preliminary knowledge of funding sources Knowledge of different writing conventions and their applications Previous experience with Microsoft Suite and Excel
