Job Title: Senior Underwriter Job Description: As an individual contributor, you will be responsible for the overall management, business development, analysis, and monitoring of a highly complex book of business. You will be recognized as a technical expert in an underwriting specialty. Under general management direction, you will work within broad limits of authority on assignments requiring a high degree of technical complexity and coordination. Your scope may include regional, industry segment, or company-wide responsibilities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Perform duties in accordance with departmental guidelines, working on highly complex underwriting risks using diagnostic and systematic analysis to assess acceptability. Develop specialized endorsement language for highly complex risks. Determine appropriate pricing for complex risks based on financial and competitive analysis, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements with minimal supervision. Make recommendations on underwriting policies and pricing strategies. Analyze the quality, quantity, and profitability of underwritten risks; prepare and present reports to management. Market products and services through agencies or brokerage channels and conduct field visits. Develop and maintain relationships with large producers within the assigned territory to achieve positive and profitable outcomes on high-risk business. Stay current on state/territory issues, regulations, industry activity, and trends; participate in industry trade groups as needed. Mentor and guide less experienced underwriters and assist in underwriting training development. Utilize advanced functionality in relevant CNA systems for daily activities. Lead special underwriting projects and presentations. Reporting Relationship:

Manager or above Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Advanced technical expertise and high-level knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles, practices, and procedures. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for effective interaction with all levels of internal and external partners. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to handle ambiguous situations and develop creative solutions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software. Demonstrated leadership skills. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred. Minimum of eight years underwriting experience. #LI-KC2 #LI-Hybrid In certain jurisdictions, CNA is required to include a reasonable estimate of compensation. The salary range for this role in District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington is $72,000 to $141,000 annually.
