UITS TEACHING AND LEARNING TEC (UA-LTLT-IUBLA)
Duties
Indiana University, University Information Technology Services, in Bloomington, Indiana seeks candidates for an Instructional Technology Consultant position. The position will perform the following duties:
Consults with faculty and staff on a variety of course design issues, including identifying student learning outcomes, fostering active and engaged learning, selecting and implementing appropriate instructional technologies, and assessing student learning in online courses. Conduct need assessments and interview subject matter experts or conduct research to develop instructional content.
Works in concert with the eDS Principal Instructional Designer and eDS Manager in the development of documentation and online resources, project planning and implementation and in establishing and implementing practices, procedures, and workflows in conformance with university and UITS strategic and operational plans to provide design and development assistance and direct support to faculty and programs creating and conducting online courses.
Works in coordination with team leaders, managers, and directors of Indiana University centers for teaching and learning, other UITS units, the Office of Online Education, and the libraries as well as others involved in online courses to establish service and functional priorities, strategies, quality assurance methods, best practices, and training and documentation.
Assess effectiveness and efficiency of instructional technology use.
Represents Learning Technologies, Instructional Technology Systems and Services, and eDS in university and teaching/learning community projects and initiatives, conferences, workshops and meetings related to online course design and development.
Represents IU at local, state, and national professional organizations and conferences.
Maintains currency with the leading edge of online course design and models of online course delivery.
Position Requires a Bachelor's Degree Or Above In Computer Science, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Or Closely Related Field, As Well As
One (1) year of consulting and training experience in usability of instructional system and accessibility of instructional and e-learning material utilizing WebAIM accessibility standards; Two (2) years of experience in using Canvas (LMS), CIDI Labs, Anthropology Ally, HTML, Kaltura, and other digital media and file production tools (including MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite) to design and create online instructional content; Two (2) years of experience in assessing and evaluating the effects and efficacy of instructional design works using research methodologies common in education research and program evaluation research (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods), and making recommendations; Two (2) years of experience in researching the latest instructional and learning theories and applying them in their instructional design works; Two (2) years of experience in any position that involved serving as a full-time instructor in higher ed teaching adult learners in both face-to-face and online settings.
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
