The Instructional Designer, Accessibility Architect is a key member of the AACC community, promoting an inclusive, welcoming environment. The role involves supporting the college community with guidance, coaching, and professional development to create accessible materials, courses, and digital content. The individual will review and test tools and materials, gather data, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accessibility throughout campus life. The candidate should be dedicated to fostering a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and inclusiveness, aligning with AACC’s core values and characteristics of excellence. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship is not available. Employment is limited to residents of Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide training and guidance on digital accessibility to staff and students; develop resources and documentation. Translate accessibility standards into understandable criteria; design and deliver training for faculty and staff. Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create inclusive online courses and programs. Review and test digital materials and tools for accessibility barriers. Coordinate testing with assistive technologies and advise on digital tool selection based on standards like WCAG, ADA, Section 508. Continuous Improvement

Identify data points and metrics to enhance digital accessibility. Partner to improve processes and evaluate course accessibility. Gather user feedback and implement improvements. Maintain documentation of accessibility efforts and ensure compliance with relevant standards. Qualifications

Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Assistive Technologies, User Experience Design, or related field. At least two years of relevant experience. Deep knowledge of WCAG, ADA, Section 508 standards. Proficiency with assistive technologies (e.g., NVDA, JAWs). Experience with LMS and accessible authoring tools. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills. Experience managing complex projects and fostering an inclusive environment. Preferred Qualifications

Higher education experience. Knowledge of UDL principles. Experience with Canvas LMS. Data analysis skills. Certifications like Trusted Tester or IAAP credentials. Additional Details
