The
Lactation Counselor
develops breastfeeding programs including parent and staff education, consultation, and follow-up. Acts as a resource for staff, patients, and community members, advocating for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm. Assesses patients and families to determine educational needs, providing care in complex breastfeeding situations to help mothers meet their breastfeeding goals. Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing individual consultations, and contributing to education and policy development. Minimum Qualifications
Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC). Bachelor's degree preferred; BSN preferred if RN. Current GA Licensure required if a Registered Nurse. Some experience with lactation support. Additional Details
