Insurance Coverage Attorney - Senior Associate

Chicago, IL (hybrid schedule possible)
A boutique litigation law firm in Chicago is seeking a skilled Insurance Coverage Attorney with a
minimum of 6 years of experience
to join its growing team. This role involves handling complex coverage matters across various policy lines and offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment focused on high-quality client service.
Responsibilities
Handle complex insurance coverage matters from analysis to resolution. Draft coverage opinions, reservation-of-rights letters, and duty-to-defend or indemnify evaluations. Litigate declaratory judgment actions in both state and federal courts, including at the appellate level. Advise clients on risk transfer, policy interpretation, and potential extracontractual exposure. Draft and negotiate policy language across multiple lines (CGL, property, E&O, cyber, umbrella/excess, D&O, etc.). Collaborate with litigation teams on underlying matters to align coverage strategy. Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in Illinois; federal court admission preferred. Minimum of 6 years of experience focused on insurance coverage litigation and counseling. Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. Familiarity with a wide range of commercial insurance products. Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases independently. Effective communication skills and client-facing experience.
