Job Description Summary United States (Home base, travelling 30% of the time within the USA to assist site activities, meeting with customers and training/meeting at Brossard office, Canada) Within GE Vernova, Hydro division, Fleet Reliability & Operation team, the Lead Engineer works on Hydro Turbine and Generator rehabilitation and new projects covering service, warranty, and project completion. The team consists of 20+ skilled engineers focused on reactivity and issue resolution. Essential Responsibilities
Fleet (Engineering support of site activities)
Conduct site visits to assess turbine and generator conditions, supervise signature tests before disassembly. Coordinate daily with site teams to address questions and anticipate problems. Recommend additional work after dismantling and inspecting components. Review and approve site record sheets. Resolve non-conformities and general issues. Support site visits during critical project phases. Assist in commissioning and testing phases. Reliability
Resolve issues during warranty period. Provide feedback to the design team based on field experience. Operation
Main contact for operation and maintenance contracts. Service
Prepare design and documentation for service projects, including customer support, condition assessments, spare parts, and refurbishments. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in hydro industry. Desired Characteristics
Willingness to travel within North America and internationally. Ability to work remotely and communicate effectively in a team. Willing to undergo pre-employment screening and possess unrestricted USA work authorization. Characteristics: creativity, reactivity, sense of urgency, good judgment, proactivity, autonomy, strong communication skills. Knowledge of hydro turbine and generator design and erection methods. PE license preferred. Knowledge of materials strength calculations, finite element analysis, metallurgy, and welding is a plus. Salary ranges from $88,200 to $138,200 USD, with a 10% variable incentive. The posting closes on August 13, 2025.
