Duke Raleigh Campusfeatures 204 inpatient beds and offers a comprehensive array of services, including cancer, cardiovascular, neuroscience, advanced gastrointestinal, and wound healing care.

Job Location Pre-Admission Testing Clinic at Duke Raleigh Hospital.

Job Summary Provide a thorough evaluation of a patient's medical/surgical history prior to planned procedures and surgeries requiring anesthesia.

Emphasis is placed on cardiovascular function, respiratory conditions, anemia, smoking cessation, diabetes optimization, nutrition, pain management, perioperative geriatric considerations and obstructive sleep apnea screening.

Position requires screening for all types of procedures and surgeries within a broad range of specialties and all ages groups.

Job Responsibilities include

: Conduct detailed and thorough medical/surgical history assessment Physical exams Medication reconciliation Provide perioperative

instructions/guidance Order testing (e.g., lab work, EKG, cardiac echo, imaging procedures, etc.) Provide consults (diabetes, nutrition, smoking cessation, pain management, geriatric care, sleep apnea, anemia, cardiology and hospital medicine etc.) Prescribe treatment or services to further optimize the patient prior to planned procedure if needed. Follow up on ordered laboratory studies, diagnostic procedures, etc Provide explanation as to the necessity and the results of ordered testing and procedures. Communication with anesthesiologists and surgeons regarding need for delay of procedures Participate in clinic research activities if needed. Perform telehealth visits if needed. Work with a supervising physician from the Department of Medicine Any other related duties required to service pre-surgical and/or pre-anesthesia care

Job Eligibility Requirements Education NP:

Graduate of accredited DNP or MSN Nurse Practitioner program to treat all ages, i.e., FNP. PA:

Graduate of ARC accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Bachelor's degree required; Master's or doctoral degree strongly preferred.

Certification NP:

NP certification to treat all ages, FNP PA:

PA-C

License NP:

Current unrestricted RN license issued by or recognized by the NCBON with approval to practice as an NP. PA:

Current unrestricted medical license issued by the NCMB with approval to practice as a PA. Both:

Federal and State prescriptive authority

Experience NP:

Prefer 1 year NP experience with NP or RN experience in trauma or general surgery related capacities. PA:

Prefer 1 year experience as PA in trauma or general surgery related capacities.

Job Hours The schedule will be Monday through Friday,

4 days per week for a 10 hour shift; no call, evenings, or weekends. Schedule may be changed by administrative or clinical leadership to meet department needs.
