The Director of Marketing & Communications plays a key role within JA of Tampa Bay’s Development Team, supporting the organization’s external visibility, brand consistency, and communications strategy. This position oversees the development and execution of compelling, mission-aligned marketing and media content across platforms and channels to ensure JA Tampa Bay’s voice is clearly and consistently shared with diverse stakeholders.
Position is [on-site] with hybrid option granted after proof of performance. This position works closely with the VP of Community & Government Affairs, the President, and other senior leaders to integrate storytelling, strategic communications, and digital engagement in support of organizational goals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implement a mission-driven marketing and communications plan aligned with JA’s brand and growth priorities. Maintain annual content calendars across social, digital, and print platforms. Lead development of marketing collateral, presentations, websites, reports, and event materials. Capture and produce photo/video content that highlights JA programs, partners, and impact. Manage projects directly or in partnership with contractors, freelancers, or vendors. Brand & Digital Presence Management: Ensure brand consistency across all materials, communications, and platforms. Oversee website and social media content strategy and execution, ensuring timely updates and high engagement. Monitor analytics across email, website, and social channels to inform data-driven improvements. Public & Media Relations: Support the VP of Community & Government Affairs in increasing awareness and positive public perception of JA. Develop media pitches, press releases, and talking points for JA campaigns and events. Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets and influencers. Internal Collaboration & Storytelling: Partner with Development, Education, and Operations teams to support their communication needs and campaigns. Source and produce mission stories that spotlight students, educators, donors, and volunteers. Provide communications support for leadership initiatives, major events, and key partnerships. Oversee and coordinate contracted marketing professionals, designers, photographers, or video producers as needed. Ensure deliverables are aligned with strategy, on-brand, and completed on time and within budget. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strategic Communications & Storytelling
: Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives tailored for diverse audiences, with a strong understanding of audience segmentation and messaging frameworks. Brand Management & Visual Identity
: Demonstrates a keen eye for visual storytelling and consistent brand execution across all touchpoints, including print, digital, video, and live events. Digital & Social Media Expertise
: Skilled in leveraging digital platforms to enhance reach, engagement, and impact; adept at interpreting analytics and adjusting strategy accordingly. Proficient in digital marketing, including social media management and web content. Demonstrated success in developing integrated campaigns and branded materials. Strong writing and editing skills across formats. Highly collaborative with strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills. Self-directed, independent, effectively perform tasks/manage projects with little oversight Highly organized with a keen attention to detail Ability to help create the desired organizational culture Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity and trust Build trust internally and externally, and project a professional image Discretion to handle confidential information Resourcefully solves challenges, pulling from inside and outside assets to be effective “Can do” attitude with no task seen as too large or too small to drive mission forward Experience and Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience. preferred Compensation and Schedule: This is a full-time salaried position, with compensation starting at $65,000 - $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience. The role includes a comprehensive benefits package. Physical Requirements:
