Senior Security Engineer - Northwest region (Remote in San Jose, CA)

By taking a three-tiered, holistic approach for evaluating security posture and ecosystems, GuidePoint enables some of the nation's top organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies and U.S. government agencies, to identify threats, optimize resources, and integrate best-fit solutions that mitigate risk. Role and responsibilities: Serve as our clients' primary technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle. Design, implement, and operationalize security controls across a wide range of IT and enterprise systems. Communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Prioritize and deliver successfully across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Create comprehensive business and technical documentation tailored to various audiences. Travel approximately 25% within the San Jose area for meetings, events, and quarterly business reviews; work remotely the rest of the time. Experience required: Security engineering experience in the Information Security industry or as a technical lead for an internal security program. Experience with architecture, implementation, and troubleshooting of security technologies such as Network, Data Security, SIEM, Endpoint, etc. Proficiency with security technologies like Next-Gen Firewalls, DLP, SASE, NAC, PAM, EDR, NDR, SIEM, Application Security, Cloud Workload Protection Platforms, Cloud Security Posture Management, etc. Understanding of networking security concepts: routing, segmentation, zones, NAT. Strong knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Scripting skills (BASH, Perl, Python, PowerShell, Java) with regular expressions expertise. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and security best practices. Knowledge of advanced security concepts like Defense in Depth and Zero Trust. Experience in a consulting or professional services role is preferred. Industry certifications (ISC2, SANS GIAC, vendor-specific) are a plus. Additional information: This position requires being local to San Jose, CA. GuidePoint offers a remote work environment primarily within the U.S., with some travel as needed.
