Merantix
UX Designer & Researcher: AI-Enhanced Products & Services (m/f/d)
Merantix, Bright, Indiana, United States
What we do
Merantix Momentum is a Berlin-based AI startup focusing on accelerating AI adoption across many industries through B2B solutions, as well as publicly funded research projects. We work across several domains, including manufacturing, healthcare, the German public sector, and many more, transforming businesses as an external machine learning department. We achieve this using our core expertise in state-of-the-art machine learning combined with our culture of rapid iterations to build scalable solutions.
Your role
As a UX Designer & Researcher, you will lead discovery and validation with users and stakeholders, translate insights into clear product bets, and craft modern UI and service flows. You’ll prototype quickly (from low-fi to functional clickthroughs), iterate with real users, and collaborate closely with engineers to ship AI Products that are easy to learn, robust, and delightful. Below you can see the tasks
Research & Discovery
Lead product discovery: Plan and run interviews, contextual inquiry, and usability tests with domain experts, operators, and public-sector users; synthesize insights into jobs-to-be-done, opportunity maps, and service blueprints.
Engage early with Sales and client stakeholders: Join discovery calls, shape problem framing and scope, help craft proposals, and create targeted demos or prototypes that clarify value and feasibility during the pre-sales phase
Design & Prototyping Turn research into design: Create flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI in Figma; maintain component libraries and design tokens to keep delivery fast and consistent.
Prototype at speed: Build interactive prototypes and AI‑generated app stubs using Figma, ProtoPie, Framer, or vibe‑coding tools like Lovable to test hypotheses in days, not weeks; iterate based on evidence.
AI-Specific UX Design Design AI-enabled experiences: Explore copilots, decision support, summarization, and proactive UX patterns. Handle model strengths/limits with confidence UIs, escalations, and human-in-the-loop.
Collaboration & Delivery
Partner with engineering: Co‑define acceptance criteria, write crisp specs, and ensure smooth hand‑off; collaborate on feasibility, edge cases, and performance, staying embedded with users and developers through the entire R&D and software‑development lifecycle.
Champion quality and access: Apply modern UI standards, responsiveness, and accessibility (WCAG-minded) across web apps, dashboards, and tools.
Work with constraints of regulated domains: Consider data privacy, auditability, safety, and GxP-like requirements when relevant; document rationale and decisions.
*Travel occasionally: Visit client sites for discovery sessions, co-design workshops, usability tests, or launches whenever in-person work adds clear value
Your profile
5+ years in UX/Product Design owning end‑to‑end user research and delivering digital products; academic foundation in cognitive science, psychology, art, computer science or a related field is a plus.
Craft & tools: visual and interaction design excellence with Figma mastery; familiar with AI/ML UX patterns (prompts, evaluation loops, confidence UIs) and accessibility standards.
Product–engineering fluency: comfortable thinking in states, analytics/telemetry, and shipping prototypes to production in small, high‑leverage teams.
Domain empathy: experience (or strong curiosity) in public sector, manufacturing, or pharma contexts, working within compliance and multilingual environments.
Client‑facing influence: fluent in German (C1+) and English, able to shape scope during pre‑sales, run workshops, and present a results‑focused portfolio
