Your Job DEPCOM is looking for a Director of Solar & BESS Operations to join the Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team responsible for operating solar and battery storage power plants across the United States. The ideal candidate will use economic thinking to drive decisions, possess problem-solving skills, communicate effectively, formalize and implement processes, and drive change. The position is based at DEPCOM’s remote operations center in Scottsdale, AZ, with occasional travel required.
Our Team At Koch Industries, our Principle Based Management philosophy guides our business practices. As a supervisor, you will help employees self-actualize and perform at their best. You will be accountable for the performance and compliance of our remote operations center, collaborating with field maintenance, performance engineering, and sales teams to lead DEPCOM Services’ operations department.
What You Will Do
Lead by example, prioritizing safety and creating a learning environment that connects the operations team with maintenance and hazard mitigation opportunities.
Mentor and empower team members through feedback, growth opportunities, and professional development.
Apply Principle Based Management frameworks to enhance knowledge and value creation at the Operations Center.
Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to maximize plant production.
Provide leadership for DEPCOM’s NERC and regulatory compliance programs.
Drive operational excellence through measures that prioritize responsiveness and contract adherence.
Leverage technology to improve efficiency and understand plant performance.
Support business growth through economic thinking, partnering with sales and recruitment.
Maintain relationships with internal and external partners for mutual benefit.
Encourage team members to develop innovative, principled solutions using economic thinking and stewardship.
Partner with KES IT to ensure operational technology and cybersecurity strategies meet market demands.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Experience leading teams managing critical infrastructure assets.
Experience in customer-facing roles.
Proven ability to solve technical problems innovatively.
Successful track record in change management.
What Will Put You Ahead
Experience applying Principle Based Management to achieve results.
Leadership experience in power generation, especially utility-scale solar or battery storage.
Knowledge of electrical theory, high voltage systems, relaying, and controls.
Engineering degree.
Salary range: $165k - $190k per year, with potential variable pay. Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
