Tulkoff Food Products, Inc. The Facilities Engineer is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of the HVAC equipment within the facility as well as the upkeep of the building and grounds.
Primary Responsibilities
The duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
Hands on enough and knowledgeable enough to inspect and repair air handling units, exhaust fans, low pressure boilers, condensing units and evaporator units. Manages contracts for the building and grounds and solicits competitive bids as necessary (landscaping and snow removal, overhead door and forklift repair, HVAC equipment, dumpster services) Schedules annual inspections of plant infrastructure including boiler, water backflow prevention, elevator, Monitors and records daily warehouse temperatures for SQF purposes. Manages building supervisory systems such as fire protection and cooler temperature monitoring alarms by receiving calls when issues arise and deploying to the building to check on these systems in times of low temperature or fire alarm. Performs HVAC equipment PM’s such as cleaning fan impellers and blades, changing filters on AC units and replacing belts on exhaust fans as needed. Further develops existing PM schedules for HVAC, forklift…??? Using Limble CMMS system to document necessary PM’s as per the manufacturers recommendations. Researches and suggests improvements to the facility to increase energy savings and lower repair costs. Oversees and manages the janitorial staff (in all non production areas) to ensure the facility and grounds are maintained to industry standards. Works closely with QC to ensure the facility conforms to regulatory standards, including FDA, OSHA, GMPs, HAACPs and SQF.
To be eligible for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
4 year engineering or technical degree preferred OR 3-5 years of experience with managing an industrial facility Strong communication skills and ability to clearly articulate root cause of problems Strong negotiation skills Ability to lead, motivate and direct employees Prior experience in a food processing plant is preferred
