Job Summary for WMATA – Tester Level 2 (MetroSync Payroll Testing)

Participate as a key member of the MetroSync ERP project team, supporting Oracle Fusion Cloud implementation. Execute functional testing for Oracle Cloud Payroll, Time & Labor, and Absence Management modules. Develop testing deliverables, including test scripts, test data, and test cases for configuration, interface, and report validation. Analyze and resolve payroll, timekeeping, and leave errors during testing. Investigate and troubleshoot interface issues and data discrepancies in payroll-related Oracle Cloud modules. Execute complex ad-hoc queries and support payroll data analysis using Oracle OTBI reporting tool. Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, and end-users to validate business requirements. Perform root cause analysis of system issues and recommend corrective actions. Support and document business processes, configurations, and system modifications. Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) and participate in end-user training sessions. Evaluate and test new or modified software programs, ensuring alignment with user requirements and established quality standards. Develop, revise, and verify quality standards, test procedures, and detailed specifications for application software. Track and verify software defects, and provide documentation for program evaluation and corrections. Recommend improvements or corrections based on testing outcomes. Utilize test management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, etc.) for test case management, execution, and defect tracking. Ensure compliance with various testing methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) and Application Lifecycle Management phases. Develop and execute automated test scripts as needed. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing clear testing results and recommendations. Maintain meticulous attention to detail and high-quality deliverables throughout all testing phases.
Minimum Requirements
7+ years of testing experience in payroll, timekeeping, and absence modules. 2+ years hands-on experience supporting payroll modules, preferably Oracle Cloud. Strong knowledge of payroll calculations, tax regulations, deductions, garnishments, and year-end processes. Experience in large-scale ERP implementations, especially Oracle Fusion Cloud. Proficiency in test management and defect tracking tools. Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and SQL/data validation skills. Experience with automated testing and familiarity with IT basics and troubleshooting. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with Oracle Cloud integration and reporting tools. Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll and Kronos Timekeeping. Certifications in Software Testing (e.g., ISTQB). Prior work in large government or public sector environments, especially transit. Seniority level
