This Supply Assurance Buyer role is for the Richmond Chemical Plant that produces process chromatography resins, liquid buffers, monomer solutions, oils, and other specialized life science products. The Richmond Chemical plant has over 3000 SKUs and complex batch production processes that run over multiple work centers in a single process order. As a Supply Assurance Buyer II, you’ll be an integral part of the Manufacturing Group, collaborating with various functions such as planning, production, QC, manufacturing engineering, and warehouse, to ensure uninterrupted material flow supporting production and customer demand.
Typical daily activities include reviewing supplier communications and ERP signals, addressing urgent chemical shortages, escalating supply issues, and coordinating with manufacturing teams. You’ll be responsible for purchase requisitions, monitoring open purchase orders, validating and confirming supplier commitments, and proactively mitigating risks through follow-ups and contingency planning. Supporting long-term initiatives like dual sourcing, supplier performance tracking, and inventory optimization will help strengthen overall supply continuity.
How You’ll Make An Impact :
Place purchase orders for goods and services needed to support manufacturing.
Manage supplier relationships to optimize supply chain efficiency.
Monitor inventory and stock levels to support production and inventory goals.
Issue material purchase orders to support production and resolve potential supply problems.
Actively manage workflow in SAP system.
Resolve invoice discrepancies to minimize overdue invoices and ensure supply availability.
Evaluate stocking levels and adjust to meet business needs.
Ensure products and services are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
Work with scheduling teams to process expedites as necessary to support production.
Introduce and manage efficiencies through effective purchasing.
Participate in supplier audits and business reviews.
Comply with certification programs and safety requirements.
Maintain files and records related to purchasing activities.
Process RTVs (Return to Vendor) for non-conforming materials.
What You Bring :
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Work Experience: 1-3 years in purchasing or production planning.
Experience in expediting and issuing purchase orders.
Coursework toward CPM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
Knowledge and application of purchasing/materials principles and theories.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP (preferred).

The estimated base salary range is $75,500 to $103,900. Actual offers will be based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and qualifications. The position is eligible for a variable annual bonus based on individual and company performance. Who We Are :
