Vice President of Finance Location: Alpharetta, GA Reports to: CEO & CFO Future Role: Chief Financial Officer Succession Track About Family Flowers Family Flowers is a growing, family-owned retail flower business with deep roots in local communities across 10 states. Our mission is to bring joy and beauty into everyday life through fresh, high-quality floral arrangements delivered with personal service. As we expand both organically and through strategic acquisitions, we are seeking a dynamic, strategic, hands-on, and experienced financial leader to join our team to support the continued development of its finance and accounting operations during a key period of transition and growth. The Opportunity We are looking for a Vice President of Finance who will have the opportunity to step into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role following the ultimate retirement of our current CFO. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the nuances of the floral industry and shape the future of Family Flowers’ finance function during a critical period of growth and transformation. The VP will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for overseeing a scalable finance organization, leading key strategic initiatives, and driving financial rigor across all business units to build a scalable finance organization. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership ● Partner with the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership to shape and execute the company’s long-term strategic plan. ● Lead financial planning, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support growth, profitability, and capital efficiency. ● Play a central role in strategic M&A, including due diligence, valuation, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance tracking. Financial Operations & Controls ● Oversee all accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax reporting requirements / compliance, business insurance, employee benefits and risk management activities. ● Optimize financial systems and processes for a multi-location retail structure; drive automation, standardization, and scalability. ● Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and internal management needs. Team Leadership & Development ● Lead a high-performing finance team from our Alpharetta-based HQ. ● Collaborate with, communicate, and optimize the use of existing finance support team in Chinchilla, PA with occasional travel to this office. ● Develop additional internal talent to support the planned company’s growth and create a culture of accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement. Systems & Technology ● Take ownership of the company’s financial systems, including transitioning and scaling use of Sage Intacct (prior experience preferred; training available). ● Ensure system adoption and data integration across all financial systems while also maintaining proper internal control procedures within all departments and locations. Required Experience & Qualifications ● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA required. ● 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, including experience as a VP of Finance, CFO, or equivalent role. ● Track record in multi-location retail, hospitality, consumer services, or franchise operations. ● Demonstrated experience in M&A, including financial modeling, due diligence, and integration. ● Background working in family-owned or lower middle-market companies undergoing growth or generational transition. Skills & Attributes ● Hands-on operator with a strategic mindset—equally comfortable in the boardroom and rolling up sleeves to get into the details. ● Strong leadership presence with ability to influence across stakeholders in a collaborative, values-driven environment. ● Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. ● Systems thinker with the ability to design and implement robust financial infrastructure. ● Hardworking and passionate team player who desires a long term career ● Limited Travel: Willingness to travel as necessary to accomplish company goals and objectives. Nice to Have ● Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar mid-market ERP/accounting software and POS Systems. ● Experience supporting private company governance (e.g., Board reporting, family governance, succession planning).
