Job Summary
The Ink Technician is responsible for all activities associated with making flexo inks. Initiating orders of ink to maintain proper inventory. Completing production data, operational , quality and safety reports.
Duties & Responsibilities Use a spectrophotometer. Order or initiate orders for the various ink bases. Assist operator in attaining the correct ink color on the sheet being printed. Coordinate with production scheduler the correct ink and the correct amount of ink to have to produce all orders. Perform end-of-month inventories of all inks and ink bases. Keep ink kitchen clean and organized all times. Maintain accuracy of scales for weighing ink. Train operators in the operation of the ink kitchen and the adjustment of inks on press to maintain proper quality of print. Monitor non-use of various inks and report on a monthly basis. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data. When inks become inactive work-off into black ink or some other color, if possible. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping. Adheres to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to Supervisor. Additional duties may be assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience working with with inks, printing, color Preferred Qualifications
Prior work experience in the corrugated industry. Experience as a Press Department Operator. Education or training in art
