Critical Care Transport Paramedic
JeffSTAT is a medical transportation service owned and operated by Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. We transport patients to any receiving hospital. Critical care transport nurses, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians are on staff and available to respond 24 hours a day. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic is primarily responsible for providing care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports following JeffSTAT's predetermined treatment protocols. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic acts as an ambassador of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), as he or she is often the first member of the Jefferson healthcare delivery team with whom the patient and their family will have contact. Provides care to critically ill and injured patients following JeffSTAT's treatment protocols and standards of care Completes a patient care record, which details a patient assessment, treatment rendered during transport, and the patient's outcome following interventions Provides continuous education to patients and their families with regards to the transport process, any interventions performed during transport, and the events that will transpire when the patient arrives at TJUH Inspects medical equipment for proper functioning at the beginning of each shift; inspects the quantity of medical supplies at the beginning of each shift; completes ambulance inventory checklist; completes refrigerator temperature log; completes glucometer control testing. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital. Paramedic (EMT-P)-Pennsylvania Basic Life Support (BLS)- Pennsylvania Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)- Pennsylvania Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)- Pennsylvania Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Pennsylvania Valid Driver's License Three (3) years of previous field paramedic experience in a critical care transport program or 911 ALS ambulance service. The Critical Care Transport Paramedic shall be experienced and proficient in performing advanced life support skills such as intubation, IV insertion, medication administration, EKG interpretation, and chest decompression. Maintains cleanliness of patient rooms and ensures all equipment is in working order. Provides direct patient care and assists with treatments/procedures as necessary. Reporting to the Assistant Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse, the ETC Paramedic assumes responsibility for all patients administered to the Emergency Trauma Center (ETC) by assisting with technical and bedside care as needed.
