Director of Product Development

Position Summary We’re seeking an experienced and visionary Product Development Director with a strong background in the food and beverage industry! Someone who understands innovation, product development, and SOP creation from concept through commercialization. This role will lead the formulation and development of both proprietary and client-driven products using Capsoil’s powder conversion platform. Key Responsibilities Lead the formulation, testing, and optimization for ingestible (edibles, drink mixes, tablets) and topical (lotions, balms) applications Manage the product development across multiple verticals (cannabis, hemp, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics) Collaborate with Sales and Business Development to scope and deliver custom product development projects for clients Oversee pilot runs, sample creation, and transfer to production for scale-up Develop and maintain all formulation documentation , including SOPs, BOMs, COAs, stability testing plans, nutritional data, and label specs Source and evaluate new raw materials, functional ingredients, and co-manufacturing partners Stay on top of industry trends to identify new product opportunities and technology applications Partner with QA/QC to ensure product quality, safety, and performance claims Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or a related field 5+ years of experience in product development, preferably in better for you space. Proven track record of taking products from concept to commercialization Hands-on, solution-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment Preferred Experience Working with actives like cannabinoids, adaptogens, vitamins, and oils Knowledge of encapsulation, emulsion, or nano/powder conversion technologies Experience in beverage, edible, or cosmetic formulation Prior experience in both B2B and CPG product development is a plus What We Offer Health, dental, and vision benefits PTO, sick leave, and paid holidays Opportunity to lead innovation in a high-growth industry A collaborative team and entrepreneurial environment Seniority level
