Salary Range for this position is $ 70,488 to $97,340 annually. The starting salary will be determined based on the candidate¿s experience and qualifications, with a target of approximately $75,000.

Position Summary
The Custodial Services Manager manages all aspects of North Seattle College's custodial operations to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes:
Staff and operational management Team leadership and support for 14 custodial staff Development and implementation of custodial policies, procedures, and standards Compliance with safety and regulatory standards Resource management.
The CS Manager ensures that custodial services are efficient, effective and customer- responsive. They develop positive relationships (with staff, other departments and individuals outside the college) that encourage participation, teamwork, and effective use of resources. They carry out their role with minimal supervision, structure, or guidance ¿ but in collaboration with others.
This is a FULL-TIME SALARIED position. Schedule is generally Monday ¿ Friday. Weekends may be occasionally required for special events. Hours will vary to best support custodial team hours, which span 6 am to 10 pm.
This position works 100% of the time on-site.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation from AFT-SPS.

What you will be working on: (Essential Functions)
Team Leadership, Supervision & Support For Staff
Hire, orient, train, and supervise custodial staff employees. Provide direct support and assistance as needed. Provide individual feedback through formal performance review processes, as well as through coaching and mentoring, to support employee's ability to carry out their role, improvement, and development of new skills and abilities. Foster teamwork across the custodial staff. Ensure that employment practices comply with terms of the collective bargaining agreement for custodial staff.
Training & Staff Development
Plan, coordinate and/or conduct training for custodial staff on safety, cleaning procedures, and equipment use. This includes, but is not limited to: Cleaning and sanitization needs of various spaces, surfaces, and materials Waste handling, removal and recycling Use of tools, equipment and supplies Room set-up for classes, meetings, and events Safety regulations
Operations Management & Oversight
Plan, organize, and direct daily custodial operations including schedules and work assignments to ensure efficient service delivery. Develop and implement operational procedures. Directly oversee and monitor that custodial work is completed to meet quality, health, and safety standards. Conduct inspections as part of this process. Manage and maintain the inventory of custodial supplies and equipment. Manage operational budget for NSC Custodial Services. This includes planning, justification, expense authorizations and monitoring as well as identifying unanticipated budget needs. Identify operational improvements that can streamline work or increase efficiency, without harming staff morale. Maintain records and key documents on behalf of custodial services. Respond to emergency situations, resolve operational issues, and implement solutions.
Compliance with Safety Regulations and Quality Assurance
Uphold safe work practices in support of a safety culture and high standards of cleanliness through awareness, observation, feedback, and training. Maintain current knowledge of rules, requirements and currently accepted principles and practices relevant to environmental health, safety and custodial services. Oversee hazardous materials waste stream disposal for NSC. Assess and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Complete and submit required and requested reports.
Communication and Collaboration; Campus Involvement
Coordinate with other department staff on matters that involve custodial staff and Facilities functions. Invite feedback from staff, campus stakeholders, and other departments about custodial services and need. Work collaboratively to address problems and concerns. Coordinate custodial services for special events, including setup, cleanup, and other related tasks. Participate in NSC, workgroups, committees, activities, and/or initiatives such as NSC Campus Safety Committee, leadership / management groups, Operations Team, and professional development offerings.

What you bring as a candidate: (Essential Skills and Qualifications)
Education: High school diploma required; 2- years college experience preferred. Experience: 3 years working in custodial services or related field. 3 years directly supervising custodial staff or equivalent. Proven ability to lead, manage and support a team including hiring, training, and performance management. Planning, coordinating and / or conducting staff training. Working with diverse workforce (multi-cultural, multi-lingual, multi-racial, etc.). Working in a unionized environment (preferred). Knowledge of Cleaning Procedures and Equipment: Understanding of and direct experience with best practices in cleaning, sanitation, and waste management. Direct experience using typical custodial tools and equipment. Safety and Compliance: Demonstrated knowledge of relevant rules, requirements and currently accepted principles and practices relevant to health, safety and custodial services (L&I, OSHA, FEMA, Dept. of Ecology, etc.) Experience with compliance reporting. Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and build positive working relationships. Demonstrated successful conflict resolution and/or mediation skills; and ability to constructively manage crisis situations. Ability to develop clear written communications, including reports. Operational Management Skills Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines. Ability to identify and resolve issues related to custodial operations. Ability to use technology for communication, data tracking, and operational management. Physical Stamina and Ability Ability to be physically active in most aspects of the position
