At the Y, we are an association of staff, volunteers, and members committed to ensuring that everyone, especially children, has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Annually, we provide high-quality literacy and STEAM learning to over 3,000 children, access to sports and camps for 58,000 youth and teens, and programs for over 200,000 members. We engage over 25,000 volunteers and donors to support our communities.

Nature And Scope The Center Director is responsible for managing all aspects of daily center operations in compliance with Bright from the Start (BFTS), Head Start, GA Pre-K, and/or Fee For Service standards. This includes overseeing facilities, personnel, procurement, record keeping, reporting, and parent activities. The Director reports directly to the Operations Director.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

Ensure implementation of Head Start, GA Pre-K, and/or Fee for Service programs at the center level.

Monitor service activities for compliance with standards.

Conduct weekly classroom observations and monitor classroom assignments.

Request technical assistance as needed.

Review monthly budgets with supervisor.

Supervise staff and evaluate job performance.

Maintain attendance records, approve timesheets, leave, and travel requests.

Participate in hiring processes and provide new employee orientations.

Conduct staff meetings and maintain related records.

Recruit and coordinate volunteers, and maintain records.

Attend parent committee meetings and activities.

Assess training needs and monitor maintenance and safety procedures.

Prepare reports, checklists, and maintain inventory and supplies.

Ensure compliance with all documentation and record-keeping requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage a Family Service Assistant caseload if center has fewer than 85 slots.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

3+ years of management and supervisory experience.

5+ years of experience in child education environment.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

Strong leadership abilities.

Ability to respond to emergencies and mediate conflicts.

Ability to network and serve as a public relations liaison.

Computer literacy.

Flexibility to work evenings for meetings or training.

Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

30-hour center-manager training.
