Account Director, Violet PR Description The Account Director should be an experienced public relations agency leader who is detail-oriented and able to drive numerous client and agency projects forward in a strategic and organized manner. They should have a strong mastery of public relations best practices, a robust network of personal media relationships, and proven experience with staff management and development. This role is best suited for someone who has an exceptional work ethic and is motivated to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative and creative environment. Emphasis in this position will be placed on consistent investment in client retention and expansion, as well as positive contributions to the overall Violet PR culture and business growth. Client Responsibilities Provide strategic direction and leadership for key accounts taking initiative to present long term communication and PR strategies, plans and budgets based on clients’ business needs Manage, train and mentor junior staff assigned to managers client roster Manage and execute day-to-day account activities including oversight of subordinates’ execution of client calls, deliverables, and expectations Develop pitch ideas; write and edit news releases, pitches, fact sheets, media advisories and social media content Pitch by email and phone to national, regional and trade journalists, including print, broadcast and online; leverage media relationships as part of client strategy and goals Social media strategy and management, including implementation of social media campaigns for clients on platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram Build strong and lasting relationships with the firm’s clients and operate as day-to-day internal and/or external client contact as appropriate. Team Responsibilities: Manage and grow direct reports by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, holding them accountable and conducting reviews / overseeing professional development. Maximize utilization of team members, employee goal-setting, appraisals, development plans, etc.; work with Human Resources and Executive Staff in dealing with personnel matters. Encourage and create a can-do working environment, reinforcing the importance and value of each team member’s contributions. Agency Responsibilities Assist with new business proposals and meetings through networking and attending conferences. Participate in new business pitches, working with Agency president and marketing/sales team by contributing ideas, expertise and actively participating in the sales process, resulting in the closure of new or expanded business. Maintain an awareness of the overall financial workings of VPR while actively pursuing ways to increase productivity and overall Violet PR profitability. Job Requirements At least 8-10 years of PR agency experience or B2B public relations Bachelors in PR, Communications, Journalism or related field Strong leadership, communication, and client relations skills are crucial, as is the ability to develop and execute PR strategies, manage budgets, create/manage processes, and mentor junior staff. Executive presence and ability to run successful, productive client meetings with senior staff/C-Suite client attendees Experience in the economic development industry or with government relations strongly preferred but not required Travel may be required to client sites and conferences 4-6 times per year Seniority level
