Job Description Job Description The Director of Finance (Controller) will serve as the senior finance leader for the McCabe Restoration Business Unit, a key and growing division specializing in large-scale commercial and residential restoration projects. This is a highly strategic and operational leadership role responsible for the full-cycle financial management of the business unit, including strategic financial planning, complex project accounting, and providing expert financial counsel for mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This role will report directly to the organization's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and report indirectly to the Senior Vice President, Operations for the McCabe Business Unit. The successful candidate will be a true business partner to both the finance and operations teams, providing critical, data-driven analysis to inform decision-making, optimize profitability, and accelerate business growth. Responsibilities : Financial Leadership & Strategy : Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for the business unit, providing detailed variance analysis and actionable insights. Develop and implement strategic financial plans that align with the company's long-term growth objectives. Prepare and present detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and performance dashboards to senior leadership and the Board of Directors. Manage all financial systems, internal controls, and processes to ensure data integrity and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Counsel : Act as the primary financial lead for potential M&A opportunities, providing in-depth financial due diligence, valuation modeling, and risk assessments. Collaborate with legal and operations teams to structure deals and develop comprehensive financial integration plans post-acquisition. Analyze market trends and competitor financial performance to identify and evaluate potential targets. Project Accounting & Operations Management : Oversee the entire project accounting function, including job costing, revenue recognition, accounts payable, and accounts receivable specific to restoration projects. Implement and manage project-specific financial controls to ensure accurate tracking of project budgets, change orders, and profitability from initiation to closeout. Partner with the Operations team to analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as job margin, labor utilization, and material costs to identify opportunities for efficiency and cost savings. Provide financial oversight for all large-scale, complex projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms and billing milestones. Team Management & Development : Lead, mentor, and develop a dedicated finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and professional growth. Manage daily operations of the finance team, including workflow, performance reviews, and resource allocation. Serve as a key resource for other department leaders, providing financial training and support to enhance their business acumen. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA designation is strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Proven expertise in M&A, including experience in due diligence and financial modeling. Strong background in project accounting, preferably within the restoration, construction, or a related industry. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively partner with both financial and operational leaders. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team. Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
