This is a remote position. Your IT Recruiter is helping Toyota Research Institute hire a Machine Learning Engineer - Human Behavior and Carbon Neutrality to develop and optimize models that personalize user experiences and power generative AI features within these platforms. In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to personalize user experiences in mobile / web apps while staying up to date with state-of-the-art AI / ML research and applying innovative techniques to improve personalization. We're looking for someone with 4+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied AI. Strong programming skills in Python and experience deploying generative AI / ML models in AWS is preferred. As a Machine Learning Engineer - Human Behavior and Carbon Neutrality, you will : Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models, including recommendation algorithms and adaptive learning systems, to personalize user experiences in mobile / web apps. Productionize off-the-shelf and in-house generative AI models for deployment in user-facing applications. Work with user data pipelines to process, clean, and analyze data from a variety of sources, including human behavior data, for AI / ML-driven features. Optimize models for on-device inference and cloud-based processing, balancing efficiency and performance. Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate ML models into APIs for real-time and batch predictions. Ensure data privacy and security compliance in ML workflows. Stay up to date with state-of-the-art AI / ML research and apply innovative techniques to improve personalization. Requirements 4+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or applied AI Strong programming skills in Python (preferred), TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn Experience deploying generative AI / ML models in cloud environments (preferably AWS) Deep understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, recommendation systems, and reinforcement learning Experience working with large-scale user behavior datasets for feature engineering and model training Experience in A / B testing, experimentation frameworks, and model evaluation Ability to work independently in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment, with excellent visual, verbal, and written communication skills; comfortable receiving and incorporating constructive feedback Bonus Qualifications : Experience with generative AI for personalized content recommendations Experience with agentic AI applications Knowledge of iOS app development workflows and how ML models interact with mobile applications Familiarity with real-time inference, on-device ML (Core ML) Benefits PTO and paid holidays! This is a full-time, 9-month contract position staffed via our client. This position will be remote with preference given to candidates based in the Bay Area who are open to working onsite in Los Altos, CA.
