As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will lead a traffic team through a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis, and design needs for transportation projects. You will be part of a growing company focused on meeting our clients’ needs while also solving their problems. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct operational traffic analysis using tools like Synchro / SimTraffic, Vistro, Vissim, and Aimsun, analyzing intersections, roundabouts, urban arterials, freeway segments, and interchanges.
Design and analyze striping, signing, signals, lighting, traffic control, ITS, and other construction plans for various roadway types and trails.
Prepare comprehensive traffic impact analysis reports.
Prepare lighting analysis and calculations.
Calculate overhead signing sight lines.
Make decisions on design and engineering procedures.
Function as a technical specialist on mid-to-large-scale projects.
Manage multiple traffic tasks and projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
Lead a traffic team through forecasting, analysis, and design projects.
Prepare studies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and estimates from start to finish.
Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management, and sub-consultant coordination.
Interface with clients, including state and local agencies.
Coordinate and conduct meetings with project stakeholders.
Coordinate with office management and project managers to share resources.
Assist in proposal preparation, including oral presentations.
Work within a team of project managers, engineers, technicians, and support staff to complete projects.
Take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.
Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
8-15+ years’ experience in traffic analysis and engineering design.
Experience and relationships with transportation agencies are highly preferred.
Hands-on experience with Synchro / SimTraffic, Vistro, Vissim, and Aimsun.
Knowledge of Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other relevant software.
Experience with DOT and local agency plan procedures and standards.
Understanding of local, regional, state, and federal design criteria.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to multitask across multiple projects.
Willingness to work on local projects or in workshare with other offices.
Proven track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
Experience managing technical staff and project teams.
A desire to grow professionally while working collaboratively to create effective designs and drawings.
