Job Summary: Sierra is part of TJX Companies, a Fortune 100 company and the world’s leading off-price retailer. They are seeking a Data Scientist to contribute to their e-commerce business by turning data into actionable insights, working collaboratively across various teams, and shaping the future of retail in the digital space. Responsibilities: • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and statistical algorithms to solve complex business problems • Analyze large, structured and unstructured datasets to extract meaningful insights and drive data-informed decisions • Build, maintain, and run automated and ad-hoc reports to support business operations and strategic initiatives • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data and fulfill ad-hoc data requests to support timely and informed decision-making • Build and maintain data pipelines and workflows to support scalable analytics, reporting, and model deployment • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Conduct A/B testing and other experimental designs to evaluate the impact of business initiatives • Support, mentor, and lead junior team members, providing guidance on technical approaches, best practices, and professional development Qualifications: Required: • A degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or natural sciences • Must meet one of the following experience criteria based on their highest level of education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a data analytics or related role; Master’s degree with at least 1 year of professional experience in a data analytics or related role; Ph.D. in a relevant field; no prior professional experience required • Proficiency in Python and SQL • Experience with one or more machine learning frameworks and data analysis/visualization libraries in Python (e.g. Pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Matplotlib, Plotly, etc.) • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively • Excellent communication and storytelling skills to translate data insights into business value Preferred: • Proven application of advanced techniques in a business setting with impactful results • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies such as Spark and Databricks • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI • Experience designing and evaluating experiments, including A/B testing and other statistical test methodologies • Experience with time series modeling techniques and/or product recommendation systems • Familiarity with data ingestion, transformation, and integration Company: At Sierra, we’re pretty into the outside and want to help other people get out there, too.
