We are looking for a talented and passionate audio software engineer for the Device Engineering team to help us develop the define the future of the Internet-of-Things for residential and commercial properties by developing and improving the audio on the camera line of products. You will be working with a team of talented engineers across a diverse set of technological backgrounds to design devices, build and manufacture hardware, architect and implement software, and collaborate in an agile and fast-paced environment. We are a leading provider of innovative camera and smart device solutions, specializing in two-way audio systems for cameras and doorbells. Our products require advanced echo cancellation, double-talk detection, and high-quality audio performance. We are seeking a skilled Audio Firmware Engineer to join our team and help us implement state-of-the-art audio algorithms and DSP solutions. As an Audio Firmware Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and optimization of the audio processing pipeline for our camera and doorbell products. You will work on implementing adaptive filters, DSP algorithms, and echo cancellation systems to ensure crystal-clear audio quality. You will collaborate with hardware engineers and fellow software engineers to design and implement algorithms and the corresponding firmware, delivering high-performance solutions that meet the demands of our consumer products. Responsibilities: Collaborate with hardware engineers and software engineers to design and manufacture embedded Linux devices. Design and implement features that interact with cloud-based systems in collaboration with software engineers. Work with product managers and quality engineers to ensure the products meet company standards. Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of projects. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills: Education & Experience: Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5-15 years of experience in audio algorithm development for consumer products. Must have experience working on audio processing pipelines for one or more devices. Technical Skills: Expertise in digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and audio algorithms, such as AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation), ANR (Active Noise Reduction), and AGC (Automatic Gain Control). Strong proficiency in programming languages like C/C++. Hands-on experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), microcontroller programming, and hardware-software interaction. Knowledge of audio codecs (e.g., µLaw, aLaw, Opus, AAC, MP3). Experience with Linux-based operating systems for embedded development. Audio Processing Knowledge: In-depth understanding of adaptive filters and their implementation in DSP for echo cancellation. Experience designing audio processing pipelines for embedded systems. Familiarity with electronic circuits, microprocessors, and digital/analog audio paths. Tools & Methodologies: Familiarity with development tools such as IDEs, version control systems (e.g., Git), and bug tracking systems. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good understanding of data structures and algorithms. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies. Audio Testing & Mechanical Knowledge: Understanding of audio testing requirements, such as minimizing vibration and audio feedback paths in enclosed systems. Knowledge of basic speaker chamber design for optimal frequency response and vibration isolation (e.g., rubber mounting techniques to prevent mechanical noise pickup).
