The Budget Office, led by the Budget Director reporting to the City Manager, manages the development and monitoring of San José’s budget across over 140 funds. The team is responsible for budget documentation, revenue forecasting, analysis of budget and service issues, and supporting performance measures. The culture emphasizes flexibility, teamwork, and high-quality contributions. Position Duties

This recruitment fills one permanent Analyst I/II position. Responsibilities include budget analysis for City Service Areas and departments, assisting in budget development, revenue and expenditure analysis, preparing key budget documents, collaborating with departments, and supporting performance measures. Overtime may be required during peak periods. Salary Ranges

Analyst I: $92,994.72 - $113,022.00 Analyst II: $101,468.64 - $123,330.48 Salary depends on qualifications and experience, including a 5% non-pensionable pay addition. Minimum Qualifications

Analyst I:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. Analyst II:

Bachelor's Degree plus two years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent experience substitutable for education. Desired Competencies

Knowledge of municipal budgeting principles, statistical methods, and government finance. Strong analytical, collaboration, computer, fiscal management, multitasking, problem-solving, reliability, and communication skills. Additional Information
