Duties And Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY :
Reporting to the Director of Career Communities, this position coordinates enhanced career development for undergraduate student participants of the Scholars Programs in the Division of Student Success. Scholars Programs serves approximately 450 first-generation students and/or students with high financial need through cohort-based programs.
Through dedicated and strategic programs, relationship management, and coordination, this position facilitates persistence and career readiness while tracking and supporting participants’ career interests, goals, and outcomes.
Duties And Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
The Assistant Director, Scholars Career Success is an experienced career service professional with a strong advising background and a demonstrated record of successful collaborations. This individual should have knowledge and interest in supporting the career needs of first-generation college students.
Specific Responsibilities
Coordinates and manages career support
for Scholars Program students to ensure career readiness, including introduction and connection to Career Communities, career exploration, goal-setting, and professional development.
Regularly meets with Scholars Programs staff
to synthesize efforts and track student career interest and persistence.
Develops and delivers career education,
including through teaching career-focused courses such as UNIV 102 and 224.
Utilizes intrusive advising strategies
to proactively identify and support students needing additional career guidance.
Designs career programming and group events
that are topical, accelerate and enhance career development, and align with Career Communities’ initiatives.
Serves as the primary Career Services liaison
for Scholars Programs at key onboarding and transition moments.
Tracks and reports student career progress and outcomes
in collaboration with Career Services leadership.
Develops referral sources and partnerships
to connect students with relevant career resources and ensure seamless wrap-around career support.
Performs Additional Team, Departmental, And University Duties As Required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field required and minimum of two years related experience.
Qualifications
Experienced career service professional with a demonstrated record of successful collaborations, strong interpersonal skills, and building rapport with students and colleagues. Comfort with using data to make informed decisions. This individual should have knowledge and interest in supporting the career needs of first-generation and limited-income college students.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Social Work, or related field required and minimum of two years related experience.
Computer Skills
Familiarity with career management platforms and tools such as Handshake; Microsoft Office 365;
