Position Overview
As the Director of Business Development, you will be responsible for both growing our federal client base and ensuring successful execution of services, particularly within the DoD. This position requires deep federal market insight, a strong business development mindset, and experience managing client delivery in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
You will act as a bridge between strategy and execution—leading capture strategies, identifying growth opportunities, assisting with proposal planning and development, representing the firm at key engagements, and ensuring delivery excellence on awarded projects.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth:
Develop and execute growth strategies across DoD and other federal sectors to drive revenue and expand market share. Meet annual pipeline, sales, and revenue goals. Lead opportunity capture from identification to award, including RFP analysis, bid strategy, proposal development, and pricing. Build and maintain relationships with senior client stakeholders, program managers, and contracting officers. Attend industry conferences and client events to position the firm and promote capabilities. Work with Firm Leadership, Marketing and Communications, and Client Service teams to refine messaging and competitive positioning.
Client Delivery & Engagement
Serve as a senior point of contact for federal clients, with responsibility for engagement success and client satisfaction. Provide strategic oversight to project teams delivering advisory services. Partner with client service teams to ensure the quality, timeliness, and compliance of all deliverables. Translate client feedback into service improvements and innovation initiatives.
Strategic Partnerships & Collaboration
Identify teaming opportunities and lead the development of strategic partnerships and subcontractor relationships. Collaborate across firm practices to align solutions with customer needs. Provide technical and market feedback to internal stakeholders to support service innovation. Contribute to thought leadership through panels, white papers, and federal forums.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business, Information Technology, or related field. CPA, CISA, CGFM, or other relevant professional certification strongly preferred. 10+ years of experience working in or serving the Department of Defense or other federal agencies. Demonstrated success in federal business development, capture, proposal development, and client service delivery. Deep understanding of DoD organizational structure, mission areas, acquisition strategies, and compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST, GAO Yellow Book, OMB Circulars). Experience managing complex engagements. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly across marketing, operations, and client delivery. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to travel regularly to client locations and events. U.S. citizenship required; active or eligible for security clearance.

Executive presence with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments. Familiarity with CRM tools and federal market intelligence platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, GSA e-Buy, HigherGov, Dynamics). Existing relationships within DoD or other federal agencies. Deep understanding of federal mission areas and contracting priorities.
