Job Details
A leading provider of food ingredient solutions is seeking a highly motivated Technical Sales Representative to join its team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the food ingredient market, experience with B2B sales of food ingredients, and a background in diverse food applications. This role is responsible for managing and expanding customer relationships throughout the Midwest territory and developing both short- and long-term sales strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and grow customer accounts across the Midwest territory.
Develop strong relationships with existing clients and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
Prospect and onboard new clients within industries such as dairy, nutrition, baking, brewing, pet food, and specialty foods.
Consistently meet or exceed sales targets.
Provide technical guidance to product developers, food scientists, and R&D teams.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of product functionality and communicate technical information clearly.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions and product applications.
Recommend ingredient based solutions based on customer needs and coordinate sample delivery.
Oversee the complete sales cycle from lead generation to post-sale support.
Manage forecasting for inventory and production planning.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, forecasts, and account information.
Professional Expectations
Maintain professionalism in all internal and external communications.
Adhere to professional dress standards when representing the company.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Food Science
or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering with at least two years of experience in the food industry.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years in technical sales within the food industry.
Direct experience supporting customers with processing, logistics, and sales-related challenges.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel within the U.S. and Canada for client visits, trade shows, and internal meetings (approx. 30% travel; up to 50% during the first year for training).
