SUMMARY:The Furnace Operator is directly responsible to operate equipment necessary to perform requirements of the furnace.RequirementsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for set up and prepare machines according to daily production schedulesPrepare equipment and ensure furnace settings are accurateMonitor shift operation of machinery, adjusting settings as necessaryLoad and unload setups, breakdowns, and operating equipmentOperate related equipment, such as cranes, forklifts, and power tools when requiredFollow router directions along with initial and date all pertinent information requiredMaintain accurate logs and monitor equipment to ensure it is producing the proper outputPerform housekeeping duties to ensure a safe and clean workplaceUse personal protective equipment as required by the job, including but not limited to the wearing of safety vest, gloves, and eye protectionPerform duties safely, responsibly, and proficiently, observing and complying with all safety and health rules (OSHA, MTI, and SDS Standards), including safe operation of all equipmentReports all accidents to supervisor immediatelyCo-ordinate with outside machine shops any necessary fixtures and special machiningCollaborate with manufacturers, internal department, and support staff to accomplish both team and company goalsPerforms similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates and shall exercise any additional powers that are or may be legally conferred upon the position by the Supervisor, Business Unit Director, or President.QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED/PREFERRED SKILLS:High school diploma/GED or equivalent supplemented by one years' experience in furnace or heat-treating operationsReasonable knowledge of work methods, practices and procedures involved in a variety of furnace maintenance and repair activitiesFamiliarity with operation of cranes, forklifts, and power tools a plusFamiliarity with Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook requiredExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with other staff, vendors, contractors, and the general publicOrganized and detail-oriented with strong level of accuracy and the ability to multi-taskAbility to prioritize and adhere to strict deadlinesHigh level of integrity; ability to handle confidential information
