Job Description Job Purpose: Working under general supervision, responsible for performing a full range of Chemical Dependency duties by providing counseling, intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Duties include the development, implementation, and maintenance of treatment plans, accurate documentation of client participation and progress, and assisting with the intake process as needed. Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluate clients to determine their suitability for treatment at ERC. Prepare comprehensive assessments of new clients with substance abuse disorders to gather information for treatment planning and evaluating progress. Develop, facilitate, and document group and individual therapy sessions. Maintain records of client progress, treatment plans, care plans, SAMIS, and discharge plans in compliance with all regulatory standards. Follow up on referrals to support clients' use of available community resources based on clinical evaluations. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations on privacy, confidentiality, and client rights. Adhere to ethical standards and attend training to maintain or advance credentials. Perform duties in a timely manner as directed by the Supervisor of Chemical Dependency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic criteria for substance abuse disorders (DSM-IV, ASAM PPC-II), treatment modalities, and intervention techniques. Knowledge of relevant federal, state, local, and agency regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of community resources and support systems for clients and families. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with familiarity in medical terminology related to substance abuse. Ability to develop effective therapeutic relationships with individuals and groups. Ability to document information accurately and complete reports promptly. Education and Experience: Current certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CAC-AD or ADT) from the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists in good standing. Physical Demands: Sitting for prolonged periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
