CNC PROGRAMMER / SENIOR CNC PROGRAMMER Based in Long Beach, CA, the CNC Programmer is responsible for developing machining processes for new products and revisions related to Rutherford and Archimedes engines at Rocket Lab's Engine Development Center. You will support Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams, delivering results for leadership, the board, and investors. (This position can be hired as a CNC Programmer or Senior CNC Programmer) WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: Develop in-house machining capabilities for Archimedes components with rapid iterations. Design and implement tooling and equipment to improve quality, delivery, and cost efficiency. Collaborate with production teams to ensure CNC programs are compatible with current machine tools and suggest process improvements. Maintain machining process documentation, including tool selection, feeds and speeds, and inspection plans. Continuously improve machining processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase quality. Coordinate with other Rocket Lab machine shops for alignment and capability sharing. QUALIFICATIONS FOR CNC PROGRAMMER: 5+ years of CNC programming experience. Proficiency with NX CAM or similar programs, with a focus on rapid iteration. Experience operating 5-axis mill CNC equipment. Proficient in GD&T principles. QUALIFICATIONS FOR SENIOR CNC PROGRAMMER: 8+ years of CNC programming experience. Extensive experience with NX CAM programs and rapid iteration. Experience operating 5-axis mill CNC equipment. Proficient in GD&T. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Experience with turbomachinery components in aerospace or energy sectors. Strong knowledge of machining processes, including multi-axis operations. Experience with CMM and inspection equipment. Familiarity with post-processing, additive manufacturing, and welding. Competent with DMG Mori CELOS with Siemens 840. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Work shift: Monday - Thursday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Willingness to travel and communicate outside of work hours. Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed. Physical requirements include repetitive assembly, grasping, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, bending, pulling, pushing, and stretching.
