The Sterile Processing Tech performs a variety of indirect patient care activities, including decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment. Ensures all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and ready for assembly on case carts. Maintains strict patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations and keeps a clean, safe environment. During the transitional duty period, learns, performs, and completes assigned responsibilities.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:

• Certification as a Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST), Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT), or Surgical Tech certification (CST, TS-C, or CORST)

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment:

• Current CRCST, CSPDT, CST, TS-C, or CORST Certification

Experience REQUIRED:

• Minimum of three (3) years sterile processing experience
• Previous experience with a personal computer

Experience PREFERRED:

• One (1) year of supervisory, management, or leadership experience
• Previous work in an academic medical center environment

Education/training REQUIRED:

• High school Diploma or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:

• Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• Completion of IAHCSMM curriculum

Shift: Monday - Friday, Evenings, 2 pm to 10:30 pm
