The Innovation Project Manager provides project leadership and coordination for initiatives under the WVU Medicine innovation incubator, RNI Accelerator LLC (RNI-A). The role supports the development, commercialization, and launch of new technologies, products, and services that originate from the incubator. The Project Manager will coordinate across internal departments, inventors, legal (IP/patent), clinical teams, and external partners to drive innovation projects from early-stage development through clinical testing, regulatory approval, and market launch.

This role will help ensure that RNI-A projects are effectively planned, resourced, and executed in alignment with WVU Medicine's innovation and commercialization strategy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree in a related field.

OR

2.High School Diploma/equivalent with four (4) years of relevant experience in project management, innovation, commercialization, or product development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Project Management Certification (PMP, Lean/Six Sigma)

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience with medical technology, digital health, software, or life sciences commercialization or marketing.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead project planning and management for assigned RNI-A innovation initiatives.

2. Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource plans.

3. Maintain project work plans and tracking tools to monitor milestones and deliverables.

4. Coordinate project activities with internal teams and external partners.

5. Track progress, manage risks and issues, and escalate concerns as needed.

6. Facilitate cross-functional meetings and ensure effective communication across stakeholders.

7. Support alignment of project goals with regulatory requirements, IP strategies, and commercialization plans.

8. Serve as the primary project liaison with clinical teams, inventors, legal counsel, and other partners.

9. Coordinate with external stakeholders including vendors, investors, and regulatory agencies.

10. Support preparation of project updates and reporting for RNI-A leadership.

11. Maintain clear documentation of project progress and communications.

12. Support grant applications, market research, and other documentation as needed.

13. Contribute to continuous improvement of RNI-A project management processes.

14. Assist with onboarding new partners and external collaborators as projects evolve.

15. Maintain a flexible and collaborative approach to support the evolving needs of the incubator.

2. Periodic driving and travel to various WVU Medicine hospitals and clinics across West Virginia and surrounding states.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Strong project planning, coordination, and organizational skills.

2. Excellent written and verbal communication.

3. Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

4. Understanding of innovation processes, IP/patents, regulatory requirements, and commercialization strategies.

5. Proficient in project management software (MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar), MS Office, and collaboration platforms.

6. Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

7. Ability to work well under high stress conditions and in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

8. Ability to work independently or cooperatively as a team member.

9. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple concurrent projects.

10. Ability to travel domestically and be onsite in Morgantown regularly.

Additional Job Description:

MUST reside within 3-4 hours of Morgantown, WV Role will require frequent travel to the area as needed STRONGLY PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: prior project management experience in marketing and commercialization.
